Overview
If your team currently stores files and collaborates via SharePoint, you'll be happy to find that you can now integrate SharePoint with DivvyHQ! This 2-part guide will show you how to 1) connect your SharePoint instance, and 2) enable individual users to attach and collaborate on content assets located in your SharePoint instance.
The Divvy Details
SharePoint is a cloud-based collaboration system equipped with workflow applications, databases, content management tools, and security features to empower business teams to work together. It also gives your company the ability to control access to information and automate workflow processes across business units. By connecting your DivvyHQ account to your current SharePoint instance, you will have access to all your files stored there.
Part 1: Connect Your SharePoint Instance
Generate your Client ID and Client Secret & fill out the appropriate fields - Your SharePoint Administrator or IT team will be able to do this.
1. First, you will visit this link: https://{company-domain}.sharepoint.com/_layouts/15/appregnew.aspx
Note: Make sure you change the {company-domain} to your own company's domain name inside the link.
2. This is where you will be generating a Client ID and a Client Secret. Client ID is considered public information and is used to build login URLs, or included in Javascript source code on a page. The Client Secret must be kept confidential. Simply click "Generate" on each icon and you will see a new client ID and secret. Save this information somewhere secure.
3. Title: Give it a meaningful name such as "DivvyHQ SharePoint"
4. App domain: app.divvyhq.com
Note: Type in exactly as stated above, DO NOT include "https://" or anything extra here.
5. Enter the Redirect URL: https://app.divvyhq.com/cloudstorage/filebrowser_callback
6. Click Create
Very Important Note: As you're generating these links, please make sure you save that information somewhere (copy and paste into a secure document), especially because Client Secret won't ever be visible to you after you close this!
Once you have the credentials from your Admin or IT team, find your Integrations Interface in Divvy
- Click on your name on the top right while in Divvy
- Select Account Admin.
3. Then click the Integrations tab.
4. Select the SharePoint tab.
Note: Only Global Administrators will have access to Integrations. If you are having trouble seeing SharePoint, please verify that you are a global administrator on your Divvy account.
4. Populate your information into the appropriate fields and click "Save Settings"
Once you save this information, any user of the DivvyHQ account that opens the "Attach from Cloud" overlay and navigates to SharePoint will be able to connect their account with Divvy.
Part 2: Enabling (Authenticating) Individual Users
*Due to a known issue, only SharePoint Site Owners will be able to connect their SharePoint to DivvyHQ right now. To be notified when this issue has been resolved, please send an email to support@divvyhq.com.
Once your SharePoint instance has been connected to DivvyHQ, you can now attach and collaborate with SharePoint files by following the steps below.
- Open a content item and go to the attachments tab.
- Select "Attach from Cloud"
3. This will open up a window with all possible Cloud Storage options, including SharePoint. Select SharePoint on the left and then click the "Connect to your Sharepoint account" button.
4. This will open up a new tab in which you will be able to give permissions to Divvy to access your SharePoint files.
5. After you click Trust it, you will be able to see all your SharePoint folders and files.
6. To attach a file to the content item, double click the file name.
As with all files "attached from cloud", we do not store a copy of the file that you'll have to download to edit later. One of the major benefits of attaching files from your cloud storage system is that we are only storing the shared URL/location of the file on your cloud platform. So clicking to edit the attached file should take you directly to that file within your cloud storage platform.
